Ex-NFL Player Predicts Big Year 2 Leap for CB Terrion Arnold

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold had a rookie season filled with highs and lows, which is expected for a first-year player adjusting to the speed of the NFL. However, former NFL player Brian Baldinger believes Arnold is on the verge of a major breakout in his second season.

Baldinger, known for his detailed film breakdowns, analyzed Arnold’s performance and pointed out key moments that showcase his talent. “All season long—sticky in coverage,” Baldinger said, emphasizing Arnold’s ability to stay with receivers and make plays. One clip he highlighted showed Arnold locking down veteran receiver Calvin Ridley, demonstrating quick footwork and awareness to break up a pass.

Arnold only surrendered two touchdowns throughout the entire season, an impressive feat for a rookie cornerback. His ability to play both man and zone coverage gives the Lions much-needed flexibility in their secondary. With the addition of D.J. Reed in free agency and the continued growth of Arnold, Detroit’s cornerback unit could be significantly improved in 2025.

Most players see their biggest jump between their rookie and sophomore seasons, and if Arnold follows that trajectory, he could emerge as one of the top young corners in the league. His development will be crucial for a Lions defense that aims to take another step forward as they chase a Super Bowl.
