If the Pittsburgh Steelers are eyeing Matthew Stafford, his wife seems open to a move. Meanwhile, a Steelers legend is urging the team to secure a Super Bowl-caliber quarterback soon.
Open to a Move
With rumors swirling about the Steelers’ interest in Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, questions remain about whether the Rams would trade him—and whether Stafford would want to leave L.A. However, his wife, Kelly Stafford, recently addressed the possibility on her “Morning After” podcast.
“I love the city of L.A. … and I love the life that we have built here,” Kelly said via the New York Post. “With that being said, I love an adventure. I am all for it. Right now, if the Rams decided that they wanted to trade him or Matthew decided he didn’t want to play for the Rams, I am good.”
Kelly, who has 431,000 Instagram followers, and Matthew have four daughters.
Despite little discussion about Stafford’s availability, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer questioned why more teams aren’t considering him. Speaking on the Dan Patrick Show, Breer and ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky both named the Steelers as a possible landing spot. Stafford, 36, is set to earn $27 million in 2025 and $31 million in 2026, per OverTheCap.com.
Hall of Famer’s Warning
Steelers Hall of Famer Rod Woodson believes Pittsburgh must secure a franchise quarterback quickly if they want to compete at the highest level. Speaking on The Jim Rome Show, Woodson emphasized that Mike Tomlin won’t win another Super Bowl without one.
“Since Big Ben has left, they’ve been struggling to find that replacement,” Woodson said. “I think they have to find that replacement. They do put a good product on the field year in and year out, and I know Tomlin is a really good coach, but he’s not going to win another Super Bowl until they find the replacement for Ben Roethlisberger.”
Woodson, who played for the Steelers, Ravens, 49ers, and Raiders, now calls games for Baltimore. He has seen firsthand Pittsburgh’s quarterback struggles since Roethlisberger’s retirement.
