“Flags Fell Differently in Detroit” — T.J. Lang Exposes Officiating Bias

Former Detroit Lions star T.J. Lang didn’t hold back when he revisited his days in Green Bay, claiming the Packers often enjoyed a little too much love from NFL officials.

During a recent appearance on a sports podcast, the former Pro Bowl guard dropped a bombshell, saying Green Bay seemed to get the “sweet treatment” from referees during his time there. Lang, who played eight seasons with the Packers before joining the Lions, said he noticed a clear difference in how calls went once he changed teams.

“When I was in Green Bay, it felt like every 50/50 call went our way,” Lang admitted. “The refs respected the organization, the winning, the history. But once I got to Detroit? Let’s just say the flags didn’t fall the same.”

Lang’s remarks stirred plenty of reaction online, with Lions fans quick to nod in agreement. Over the years, Detroit has found itself on the wrong end of some infamous officiating moments—something fans still haven’t forgotten.

While Lang didn’t accuse the league of outright bias, his words echo a common feeling among players and fans alike—that certain franchises seem to get the benefit of the doubt more often than others.
