Fly By Season: These Eagles Might Only Last One Year

These Eagles Might Just Be One-and-Done in Philly

Building a strong NFL team takes a ton of moving parts. The Eagles nailed the most important one already   locking in Jalen Hurts as their franchise QB. Now it’s about keeping him protected, building up the defense, and of course, managing the cap like a boss. Luckily, Howie Roseman’s a pro at that.

This offseason, Philly brought in a handful of players on one-year “prove-it” deals classic Howie move. It’s low-risk: if they ball out, great. If not, no harm done. But let’s be real, some of these guys probably won’t be sticking around long-term. Not because they’re bad, just because that’s how the business works.

Here’s a quick rundown of players who might only wear midnight green for one season:

    Josh Uche  Edge Rusher
With Brandon Graham retired and Josh Sweat off to Arizona, the Eagles needed help on the edge. They brought in Uche and Azeez Ojulari to fill the gap. Uche’s never played a full season, and while he’s got talent, Ojulari might have a better shot at sticking around just because he’s a little more consistent at getting to the QB.

    A.J. Dillon    Running Back
Dillon’s coming off an injury and signed a one-year deal to help lighten Saquon Barkley’s load. If he’s healthy, he could be useful  but it’s hard to see Philly committing to him beyond this year. They’ll probably just let him play out the deal and reassess.

   Adoree’ Jackson     Cornerback
Philly’s corner situation has been a bit of a revolving door. Adoree’ is the latest addition, but he’ll have to fight for a starting spot, especially with young guys like Kelee Ringo in the mix. Could be a short stay unless he really stands out.

    Avery Williams – Return Specialist
He’s super versatile   can return kicks and even switch between running back and corner. But let’s be honest, return guys aren’t usually long-term roster locks unless they’re electric. With Philly’s cap situation, he feels like a one-season rental.

   Harrison Bryant   Tight End
Philly signed Bryant just in case Dallas Goedert ends up leaving, but let’s not pretend they’re in the same league. Bryant’s solid, but not someone you build your tight end room around. Honestly, he might not even be ahead of Grant Calcaterra on the depth chart.

   Kylen Granson    Tight End
Another tight end in the mix, but again, this feels like a temporary patch. If Goedert’s gone, they’ll need someone better to take over full-time, and Granson just doesn’t scream “future starter.” Don’t be surprised if Philly drafts a tight end soon   maybe even someone like Harold Fannin Jr., who just had a monster season in college.

Bottom line: These players might contribute in 2025, but don’t expect all of them to be in Philly long. That’s just part of Howie’s strategy   get value now, reassess later.
