Former Alabama WR Marquis Maze Sparks Debate Over Duke Basketball Support

Former Alabama wide receiver Marquis Maze has Crimson Tide fans split after showing love for Duke basketball.

Maze, who played for Alabama from 2008 to 2011 and won two national titles, reminded everyone where his basketball loyalty lies ahead of Alabama’s Elite Eight matchup against Duke.

“I hope Bama beats everybody but Duke in basketball. Y’all just got put in the wrong bracket,” Maze posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Some Alabama fans weren’t too happy about his support for the Blue Devils, but Maze fired back, saying, “Not many of y’all were Bama basketball fans until Nate (Oats) turned things around, so keep the hate coming—I love it.”

His comments stirred up a debate among Tide fans, with some defending his right to support another team while others felt betrayed. Either way, Maze isn’t backing down from his Duke fandom.
