Former Cowboys Star Rips Into Jerry Jones Over Team Decisions

Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Charvarius Ward isn’t holding back on his feelings about the team—and especially about owner Jerry Jones.

Ward, who joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2018, recently reflected on his short stint with the team. According to him, he was locking down receivers in practice and was confident he’d made the team. But Dallas had other plans.

“I was strappin’ all them boys. I thought I was making the team, but Dallas doesn’t make a lot of good decisions,” Ward said.

Instead of keeping him, the Cowboys traded Ward to the Kansas City Chiefs for offensive lineman Parker Ehinger before final roster cuts. That move didn’t exactly age well for Dallas—Ehinger lasted just one season as a backup, while Ward went on to win a Super Bowl with Kansas City in 2020.

Most recently, Ward played for the San Francisco 49ers and started in Super Bowl LVIII against his former Chiefs team. Unfortunately for him, Kansas City got the last laugh.

Looking back, it’s safe to say Ward got the better end of that trade. Meanwhile, Cowboys fans are left wondering—again—about the team’s decision-making.
