Sam Martin, who spent the first seven years of his NFL career punting for the Detroit Lions, is back on the move. The Buffalo Bills just cut him loose, making him a free agent once again.
Martin had one year left on his contract, worth $1.9 million, but now he’s free to sign anywhere when free agency kicks off later this month. He spent three seasons in Buffalo, where he averaged 46.7 yards per punt. In 2024, he dropped 25 of his 54 punts inside the 20-yard line, with just five touchbacks.
Before his time in Buffalo, Martin had a two-year stint in Denver after leaving Detroit in 2020. Now, the veteran punter is looking for his next stop in the league.
