The calendar’s flipping into late July, and while NFL training camps are filling out, one name remains conspicuously absent: Jamaal Williams.
The former Green Bay standout—now 30—is still unsigned after his 2024 season with the Saints wrapped up. That year wasn’t his best: he finished with career lows in yards per touch (3.9) and rushing yards per game (11.7), according to Pro Football Focus .
It’s startling, considering what Williams once brought to the table. From 2017‑2021 in Green Bay, he racked up 1,985 rushing yards on 500 carries and caught 961 receiving yards, all while knocking in 18 touchdowns . He even led the NFL with 17 rushing TDs in 2022 during his stint with the Lions.
But that 2024 skid has teams wary. With camps opening in mid-July, Williams is now scrambling for a spot—any spot—before rosters thin out and depth charts lock.
Is this the end of the road for a once-reliable back? Only time will tell, but one thing’s clear: if he wants to stay in the league, he’ll need to impress fast.
