The NFC North is heading into the 2025 season with a whole new look up front. After an offseason packed with bold moves and significant transitions, each team in the division has reshaped its offensive line. But with all the changes, a big question emerges: Do the Detroit Lions still own the best offensive line in the NFC North?

Detroit has long been considered the gold standard when it comes to offensive line play. But this offseason, they faced some setbacks. The Lions lost two key starters—center Frank Ragnow and right guard Halapoulivaati Vaitai—and while they did draft a potential long-term replacement at center in the second round, they’re not the only team retooling.

No one made more noise this offseason than the Chicago Bears. Chicago was aggressive in rebuilding its front five, signing former Falcons center Drew Dalman to a hefty three-year, $42 million contract. They also pulled off a major trade for All-Pro guard Joe Thuney and landed Jonah Jackson from the Rams in free agency. That’s a complete overhaul—one that signals the Bears are going all-in.

The Minnesota Vikings also made several moves to shore up their line. They brought in veterans Ryan Kelly and Will Fries from the Colts and doubled down by selecting guard Donovan Jackson in the first round of the draft. It’s clear they’re making protection a priority.

Over in Green Bay, the Packers weren’t quiet either. They added Aaron Banks, formerly of the 49ers, and made some strategic tweaks to the interior of their offensive line.

With so much change across the board, the NFC North trenches look dramatically different from just a year ago—and arguably much improved.

For years, Detroit set the bar in the division, but is it time for a new team to claim that crown? According to Pro Football Focus, the answer might be yes. In their latest 2025 offensive line rankings, the Lions landed at 13th overall—third in the division. The Bears came in at fourth, while the Vikings edged them out at seventh.
