Former Lions WR Maurice Alexander Follows Ben Johnson to Chicago Bears
Maurice Alexander, a former wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, has signed a futures deal with the Chicago Bears, reuniting with former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who is now the Bears’ head coach. Alexander will also work with his former position coach, Antwaan Randle El, who joined the Bears’ staff as wide receivers coach and assistant head coach.
Alexander, 28, was on the Lions’ practice squad for much of the 2024 season and made three appearances as a kick and punt returner, filling in when Kalif Raymond was sidelined due to injury. Although his time with the Lions was limited, Alexander earned a reputation as a hardworking and dedicated teammate. His story of perseverance includes time spent working another job before making his way into the USFL, eventually earning an NFL spot.
