Former Lions QB Kellen Moore Named New Orleans Saints Head Coach
Kellen Moore, a former Detroit Lions quarterback, has officially landed his first NFL head coaching job with the New Orleans Saints. Moore, who played for the Lions from 2012 to 2014, never saw game action in Detroit but went on to have a successful coaching career after retiring as a player.
Following his playing days, Moore quickly moved up the coaching ranks. He started as quarterbacks coach for the Dallas Cowboys before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019. After a four-year stint in Dallas, he took on the same role with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023, but the firing of head coach Brandon Staley led to his departure. Moore then joined the Philadelphia Eagles as offensive coordinator for the 2024 season, where he helped lead them to a Super Bowl LIX victory.
Now, at just 36 years old, Moore is getting his shot as a head coach with the Saints, replacing Dennis Allen. He will be tasked with revitalizing a New Orleans team that has struggled in recent years. With a reputation for creative offensive schemes, Moore could bring much-needed excitement to the franchise.
Can Moore turn the Saints back into contenders? His ability to develop quarterbacks and build high-powered offenses will be put to the test in his first head coaching opportunity.
