Well, that escalated quickly.
In an offseason already full of intrigue, wide receiver George Pickens has added a personal twist to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ narrative—and he’s not holding back. Now wearing Cowboys blue, Pickens took to social media to set the record straight about his exit from Pittsburgh. And let’s just say… he says it wasn’t exactly mutual.
“I Play for Cowboys Bro Stop Reminiscing”
The drama kicked off when a Steelers fan tried to clown Pickens online, posting a thread full of his supposed “lowlights.” Pickens, never one to back down, replied with a shot of his own.
“Lmaooo. I play for cowboys bro stop reminiscing,” he wrote. “And trying to justify the trade, yall just lost another good player to fake reports like this one.”
Translation: Move on, Steelers fans. I already did.
But it didn’t stop there.
Pickens Says He “Forced” the Trade
In a follow-up tweet—which has since been deleted—Pickens dropped the real bombshell.
“I forced buddy. They were gladly keeping me… have a nice day and a blessed one my guy.”
Yup. According to Pickens himself, it wasn’t just behind-the-scenes discussions or front-office decisions that got him to Dallas. It was his own doing. He made it clear he wanted out, and the Steelers—eventually—obliged.
What’s Going on in Pittsburgh?
This isn’t the only storyline brewing in the Steel City. The Steelers are facing a strange quarterback situation. They’ve drafted Will Howard and still have Mason Rudolph on the roster, but there’s no clear QB1. Without a veteran presence under center, it’s hard to imagine the team making a deep run in the upcoming season.
Add the Pickens saga on top of that, and it looks like Pittsburgh has more questions than answers.
A Fresh Start in Dallas
As for Pickens, the move to Dallas could be exactly what he needed. With Dak Prescott at quarterback and a roster aiming to contend, the Cowboys are in a solid position—and so is their newest wide receiver.
Whether he becomes a breakout star or just brings some added fire to the Cowboys’ offense, one thing’s clear: George Pickens isn’t shy about speaking his truth.
And if his tweets are any indication, he’s already feeling right at home.
