Georgia Strikes Again! Bulldogs Beat Out Alabama, Ohio State for Star Safety

Georgia just scored a big commitment from four-star safety Zech Fort, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Fort had some major programs after him, including Ohio State, Alabama, and even national runner-up Notre Dame. But in the end, the Bulldogs came out on top.

“Where champions are made, Go Dawgs!” Fort told Fawcett after making his decision.

His commitment comes at a crucial time for Georgia. Just a day earlier, they missed out on former Ohio State defensive tackle Hero Kanu, who chose Texas instead. Plus, they recently lost former five-star edge rusher Damon Wilson to Missouri.

Fort, who stands at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, plays for IMG Academy in Florida—a school that has sent plenty of talent to Georgia over the years. Current Bulldogs defensive backs Ellis Robinson IV and Daylen Everette both came from IMG, as did former Georgia star and current Philadelphia Eagle Nolan Smith.

Kirby Smart and his staff are already putting in work on the 2026 recruiting class, battling with Alabama and Ohio State for top talent. Fort is now Georgia’s highest-ranked commit for 2026, according to 247Sports. The Bulldogs already have three four-star prospects locked in, including wide receiver Vance Spafford from California and 6-foot-6 tight end Lincoln Keyes from Michigan.

Right now, Georgia sits at No. 12 in the 2026 recruiting rankings, ahead of both Alabama and Ohio State. Of course, those rankings will shift as more commitments roll in, but one thing’s for sure—Georgia is keeping its IMG Academy pipeline alive and strengthening its defense with another big-time recruit.
