Georgia’s OC Mike Bobo Shares His Biggest Offensive Concern Yet

Let’s be real: Georgia’s offense hasn’t exactly been living up to the hype this season. Sure, there’ve been some bright spots, but it’s hard to ignore the stuff that’s holding them back. Carson Beck’s been a bit of a turnover machine, and the wide receivers? Yeah, they’ve been dropping balls like it’s a new team tradition.

But there’s another big issue flying under the radar—the run game. And y’all, it’s not looking great. Injuries in the backfield, a banged-up offensive line, whatever—you can blame it on a lot of things. Bottom line, though? Georgia’s rushing attack has been meh at best. To put it in perspective, they’re sitting at 15th out of 16 SEC teams in rushing yards per game. That’s 129.2 yards per game, folks. For Georgia football, that’s basically unacceptable, especially if they’re trying to make noise in the College Football Playoff.

Mike Bobo Gets Real About the Struggles
Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo didn’t sugarcoat things when he addressed the media recently. He knows the run game has been a weak spot and owned up to it:

“Yeah, it’s frustrating. We pride ourselves on running the ball. I could sit here and list off reasons—injuries, this, that—but at the end of the day, they’re just excuses,” Bobo admitted. “We’ve got to figure it out if we want to win in these playoffs.”

And he’s right. If Georgia’s going to make any kind of run in the CFP, they need to stop talking about the problems and start fixing them.

Time to Lean on the Run Game
Here’s the kicker: with Carson Beck out for the season, Georgia doesn’t really have a choice. Gunner Stockton’s taking over, and while the guy’s got a decent arm, his game is way more dynamic when he’s running the ball. We already saw some of this in the SEC Championship’s second half when Stockton and the running backs carried the load.

Sure, Stockton can sling it, and honestly, people are way too quick to write him off as a passer. But let’s not kid ourselves—Georgia’s going to have to lean on the run game big-time in the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame. And yeah, that’s a little nerve-wracking given how inconsistent the ground game has been this year.

Can Georgia Flip the Script?
The good news? There’s still time to turn things around. With weeks of prep ahead of the Sugar Bowl, the Dawgs can focus on sharpening their rushing attack. The talent is there—it’s always been there. They just need to clean up the execution.

If Georgia can get their run game rolling, they’ll have a legit shot at keeping their playoff dreams alive. So, Dawg Nation, buckle up. It’s about to get interesting.
