Giants Address Controversy Over Jaxson Dart’s Concussion Protocol

The New York Giants pulled off a stunning 34–17 upset over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football, but their big win came with a bit of drama. Head coach Brian Daboll and the team are now under NFL investigation for possibly interfering with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s concussion protocol.

Dart took a hard hit late in the third quarter after being sacked by Eagles linebacker Patrick Johnson, hitting his head on the turf. He was checked out by team medical staff inside the blue tent and later cleared to return — but cameras caught Daboll and running back Cam Skattebo approaching and briefly entering the tent during the evaluation.

That raised some eyebrows across the league. Even though Dart was cleared and finished the game, the NFL wants to make sure the Giants followed proper procedure — and didn’t cross any lines.

Giants Release a Statement

On Friday, Giants owner John Mara released a statement addressing the situation.

> “I spoke to Coach Daboll this morning about approaching the medical tent last night,” Mara said. “While I believe he wasn’t trying to influence the process, he understands that even the appearance of interference is inappropriate. We have league protocols to protect player safety, and we need to allow our medical staff to do their jobs without interruption. We’ll fully cooperate with the NFL and NFLPA as they review the incident.”

Dart Avoids Concussion, Giants Look Ahead

The good news for New York is that Dart didn’t suffer a concussion. The rookie looked sharp again, throwing for 195 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 58 yards and another score, while Cam Skattebo added 98 yards and three TDs. Together, they shredded Philly’s defense and gave Giants fans something to cheer about.

Still, Daboll and the organization could face league discipline depending on the results of the investigation.

With a few extra days off before Week 7, the Giants will regroup and prepare for a matchup against the Denver Broncos. If Dart keeps playing at this level — and stays healthy — New York might just have found its future franchise QB.
