The New York Giants are always on the lookout for more pass-rushing talent, and they might have their eyes set on a rising prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Giants Showing Strong Interest in Texas A&M’s Shemar Stewart
Texas A&M EDGE rusher Shemar Stewart has been turning heads after an impressive showing at the NFL Scouting Combine, and the Giants are paying close attention. According to Art Stapleton of North Jersey, defensive line coaches from both the Giants and Jets spent a good chunk of time evaluating Stewart before Texas A&M’s Pro Day.
Stewart’s draft stock is a bit of a mixed bag—some analysts think he’s a first-round talent, while others see him as a Day 2 steal due to his lack of college production. Pro Football Focus ranks him 27th overall, but still considers him a likely second-round pick.
Could Stewart Be a Future Giant?
Standing at 6-foot-5, 267 pounds, Stewart has all the physical tools to be a dominant NFL pass rusher. He’s an athletic freak—he posted a 10.0 Relative Athletic Score (RAS), the best score ever recorded for a defensive end since 1987. He also ran a 4.59-second 40-yard dash and hit a 40-inch vertical, proving he’s got the speed and explosiveness to wreak havoc in the NFL.
However, while his athletic traits are off the charts, his college production hasn’t matched the hype. In 2024, he recorded only 1.5 sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 31 total tackles. That’s not exactly eye-popping, but teams are betting on his raw potential.
With the right coaching, Stewart could develop into a game-changing force on the defensive line. If he’s available on Day 2, don’t be surprised if the Giants make a move to bring him to New York.
