Giants Eye Day 2 QBs in NFL Draft – Here Are 3 Names to Watch

The New York Giants are going quarterback shopping in this year’s NFL Draft. The big question? When they’ll make the move.

After picking up veteran QBs Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, the pressure is off to grab a top passer like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders with their No. 3 overall pick. Instead, they’re expected to look at defense early, possibly going after Penn State’s Abdul Carter or Heisman winner Travis Hunter.

But don’t be surprised if they use their second-round pick (34th overall) on a quarterback they can develop. Here are three guys they’re likely targeting on Day 2:

Jalen Milroe (Alabama)

Milroe is probably the most athletic QB in this year’s draft. In his final season at Alabama, he threw for nearly 2,850 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also rushing for 726 yards and scoring 20 times with his legs. His deep ball is solid, but he needs to clean up his short and mid-range accuracy.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has the Giants grabbing him at No. 34. If they do, the plan would likely be for Milroe to sit behind Russell Wilson for a season, learn the ropes, and maybe take over in 2026. Brian Daboll could also use his speed in some RPO plays throughout the season.

Tyler Shough (Louisville)

Shough’s draft stock shot up after a strong showing at the NFL Combine. He recently visited the Browns and then had a meeting with the Giants. The 6’5″, 225-pound QB has been around—starting at Oregon, then spending time at Texas Tech, and finishing at Louisville.

In 2024, he threw for over 3,100 yards with 23 touchdowns and only six picks. He’s not super mobile and turns 26 later this year, which might turn off some teams. But the Giants have always liked experienced players, so he’s still in the mix for their second-round pick.

Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)

This one’s more of a long shot. Some think the Steelers might grab Dart with the 21st pick, but if he falls to 34, the Giants could pounce. Dart is widely seen as the third-best QB in this class, and snagging him in Round 2 would be a steal.

He’s shown steady growth over his college career, with time at USC and then Ole Miss. Last season, he completed over 69% of his passes for more than 4,200 yards and 29 touchdowns, while also adding nearly 500 yards and four TDs on the ground.

Oh, and the last time the Giants drafted an Ole Miss QB? That worked out pretty well—just ask Eli Manning.
