Giants’ Free Agency Regret? Team Offered Trade for Departed Star

The New York Giants just lost linebacker Azeez Ojulari to the Eagles in free agency, but here’s the kicker—they could’ve traded him last year.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, the Giants were offered a fifth-round pick for Ojulari at the trade deadline. But with Kayvon Thibodeaux hurt at the time, GM Joe Schoen decided to hold onto him. Now, Ojulari is gone, and the Giants got nothing in return.

Ojulari had a strong rookie season in 2021, setting the franchise’s rookie sack record with eight. But injuries kept piling up—he missed 10 games in 2022, six in 2023, and the final six games of the 2024 season. Despite his potential, staying healthy was a major issue.

Now, he joins a growing list of ex-Giants heading to Philly, alongside Patrick Johnson and Adoree’ Jackson. The Eagles are clearly stacking up on former rivals, and the Giants? They’re left wondering what could’ve been.
