The New York Giants are making big moves at quarterback! According to NFL Insider Dianna Russini, the team is “hoping” to land either Russell Wilson or Joe Flacco before the draft—but that won’t stop them from eyeing Shedeur Sanders with the No. 3 pick.
Speaking on The Dan Patrick Show, Russini revealed that the Giants are aggressively exploring their options. While Wilson or Flacco could serve as a short-term solution, the team is still likely to draft their future franchise QB—and Sanders is a top contender.
Russell Wilson Favored the Giants?
Wilson, who has already visited New York, reportedly views the Giants as a “viable option”, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. While the 36-year-old is no longer the elite dual-threat QB he once was, he still brings playoff experience and leadership—qualities the Giants desperately need.
If Wilson doesn’t sign, Flacco remains a backup plan. The veteran helped the Browns to the playoffs last season and could serve as a mentor for whoever the Giants bring in.
Shedeur Sanders Hype is Growing
Meanwhile, momentum is building for Sanders as the Giants’ pick at No. 3. Draft experts Mel Kiper Jr. (ESPN) and Daniel Jeremiah (NFL Media) both predict the Giants will select the Colorado star, with Kiper praising his accuracy (74% completion rate in 2024) and pocket presence.
While some view drafting Sanders this high as a risky move, the Giants need a long-term answer at QB. If Wilson or Flacco signs, Sanders could sit and develop before eventually taking over.
Bottom line? The Giants are making a serious play at solving their QB problem—and they’re keeping their options wide open.
