The New York Giants haven’t made any big quarterback moves yet—other than re-signing Tommy DeVito—but that could change soon, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
In his latest “NFL Confidential” column for FOX Sports, Schultz mentioned that the Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting on Aaron Rodgers’ decision, while the Giants could bring in a backup QB “very soon,” similar to the Steelers’ recent deal with Mason Rudolph.
This suggests the Giants might add a lower-cost veteran option before the draft to provide some stability while they figure out their long-term QB situation.
Who Could the Giants Target?
The free-agent QB market is thinning, but a few options remain. The Giants have already met with Joe Flacco and Jameis Winston, but both might be looking for starting opportunities or higher pay.
If they want a more affordable backup, familiar names like Drew Lock or Tim Boyle could make sense since they’ve already played in Brian Daboll’s system. Other potential low-cost options include Tyler Huntley, Trey Lance, Case Keenum, Easton Stick, C.J. Beathard, Jeff Driskel, or Desmond Ridder.
Could Kirk Cousins Be in Play?
There’s also some buzz around Kirk Cousins, as the Atlanta Falcons are actively shopping him in trade talks. With Cousins owed a hefty $27.5 million for 2025 (plus a recent $10 million roster bonus), the Falcons are desperate to move him.
According to Schultz, Atlanta is “calling everyone that will listen” to find a trade partner. While the Giants haven’t been specifically linked to Cousins, their ongoing QB uncertainty makes them a team to watch in these discussions.
For now, the Giants seem more likely to add a backup rather than make a blockbuster trade, but with the NFL offseason in full swing, anything can happen.
