Giants Pick Their QB Contenders—And Rodgers Isn’t One of Them

The New York Giants have been in the mix for free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but it looks like they might be moving on. Instead of waiting around for the 41-year-old’s decision, the Giants are reportedly considering other options.

Holding the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, New York is widely expected to draft a quarterback. However, NFL insider Dianna Russini shared on The Dan Patrick Show that the team is also eyeing two veteran QBs: Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco.

When Patrick asked, “What are the Giants doing?”, Russini responded, “Hoping that Russell Wilson or Joe Flacco decide to come to New York.”

If the Giants take a rookie like Shedeur Sanders at No. 3, bringing in a veteran like Wilson or Flacco as a bridge starter would make sense. Flacco had a solid 2024 season with the Colts, throwing for 1,761 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in eight games. Wilson, who played 11 games for the Steelers, put up 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five picks.

It’s clear New York is weighing its options, but one thing seems certain—they’re not putting all their eggs in the Rodgers basket.
