Giants’ QB Plans Shift—Does Rodgers Fit After Winston Deal

The NFL quarterback shuffle is in full swing, and all eyes are on Aaron Rodgers as teams make their moves. The future Hall of Famer met with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, and things reportedly went well. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings have decided to roll with J.J. McCarthy as their starting QB, despite previous speculation that Rodgers was interested in joining them.

Over in New York, the Giants made a move that raised eyebrows—they signed veteran quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year deal. Winston, 31, played for the Browns last season, but his performance was nothing to write home about. He had a couple of solid games, but overall, his numbers weren’t great.

Still, NFL insider Albert Breer says Winston’s signing doesn’t necessarily mean the Giants are out on Rodgers. Rodgers has been linked to the team, especially since staying in New York would mean he wouldn’t have to move far from his current home. He spent the last two seasons with the Jets, but the team struggled, winning just 12 games in that span. Last year, Rodgers played all 17 games, but the Jets still only managed five wins.

One wrinkle in all of this? The Giants hold the No. 3 overall pick in next month’s draft, and rumors are swirling that they might use it on Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders—or even try to trade up to No. 1 to grab Cam Ward.

So, while Rodgers’ next move is still uncertain, the QB dominoes are definitely falling into place.
