Man, Jameis Winston just can’t catch a break. After bouncing around the league—from Tampa to New Orleans to Cleveland—he finally gets picked up by the New York Giants. Cool, right? Well, not for long.
The Giants made headlines earlier this offseason when they picked up not just Winston, but also Russell Wilson. People were already scratching their heads, wondering what their actual plan was. Two veteran QBs? Weird, but okay—maybe they weren’t into this year’s rookie QB class.
Then came the twist. During the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants decided to trade up and draft Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss with the 25th pick. That makes three starting-caliber QBs on the same roster. Why?
Let’s not forget, this team already messed up before by reaching for Daniel Jones a few years back. That didn’t go well. Now they’re back at it, loading up on quarterbacks like it’s a Black Friday sale.
Meanwhile, Winston, who’s shown he’s got plenty left in the tank and even did some solid TV work during Super Bowl coverage, is left in limbo again. He’s probably the best locker room guy you could ask for, but man, he deserves more than just being the backup to a backup.

FSU Nearly Had the Top Two Picks in the NFL Draft… Almost
Talk about a “what if” situation for Florida State.
Cam Ward went No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans in this year’s draft, but it turns out he was this close to becoming a Seminole. After transferring from Washington State, he was deciding between FSU and Miami. But then Miami threw over $4 million at him to stay in college for one more season, and that gamble worked out. He had a soft schedule, balled out, and boom—No. 1 pick.
FSU instead went with DJ Uiagalelei, and… yeah, that didn’t go so well.
Then there’s Travis Hunter, who went No. 2 to the Jaguars. He was originally committed to FSU back in 2022 before flipping to Jackson State and playing for Deion Sanders. Hunter eventually transferred to Colorado, lit it up, and even won the Heisman.
If FSU had landed just one of these guys—let alone both—it might’ve completely changed their season. Instead, they finished 2-10, and the “what could’ve been” conversation is now haunting FSU fans.
To be fair, Mike Norvell has landed some solid recruits like Jared Verse and Keon Coleman. But missing out on Ward and Hunter stings—these were the kinds of guys who could’ve changed the whole program’s trajectory.
Now, it’s all about what happens next. New coordinators are in place, and 2025 is a new season. Still, it’s hard not to think about how close FSU was to having two future NFL stars on their roster.
