Giants Rookie Dealing With Lawsuit Over Wild Golf Cart Incident
Cam Skattebo, a rookie running back for the New York Giants, is already facing off-field drama before he even plays a snap in the NFL. While he’s gearing up for his debut season, he’s also caught up in a lawsuit from his college days at Arizona State.
The issue? A golf cart ride gone very wrong.
Former teammate Mattheos Katergaris is suing Skattebo, claiming a reckless move led to a career-ending elbow injury. According to the lawsuit, Skattebo allegedly jumped on the back of an already overloaded golf cart, which caused the seat to collapse. Katergaris says he fell off and badly injured his elbow — enough to derail his football career for good.
Katergaris, who played offensive line for ASU, says the incident happened in July 2023, before Skattebo even played his first game for the Sun Devils. The injury was apparently serious — his tendon was almost completely torn, he needed surgery, and went through months of rehab.
Skattebo, through his lawyer, is denying everything and wants the case tossed out. The next legal update is set for February.
In the meantime, Skattebo is focusing on football. Drafted in the 4th round this year, he’s expected to pair up with Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the Giants’ backfield. Coaches are looking at him for his toughness and potential in pass protection, which could earn him more time on the field.
As of now, the lawsuit isn’t expected to affect his status with the team.
