Giants Weigh No. 3 Pick as Brian Daboll Gushes Over ‘Remarkable’ Travis Hunter

With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, the New York Giants are weighing their options for the third overall pick. And if Colorado’s Travis Hunter is still on the board, he could be a game-changer for Big Blue.

Head coach Brian Daboll had nothing but praise for Hunter at the NFL’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday. The two-way superstar, who plays both wide receiver and cornerback, has impressed the Giants with his versatility.

“I think he’s a good player both ways,” Daboll said. “It takes a long time to evaluate him because there’s so much tape. It’s really remarkable what he has done—not really getting much rest and still performing at a high level.”

Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, is widely regarded as an elite cornerback prospect for the NFL, but his ability to play offense adds another layer of intrigue. The Giants have needs at both positions, making him a perfect fit.

That is, if he’s still available. The Titans are expected to take quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick, while the Browns at No. 2 could grab Hunter, edge rusher Abdul Carter, or QB Shedeur Sanders.

If Hunter does fall to the Giants, he could shake things up in the secondary. New York recently signed Paulson Adebo to be their top corner, with 2023 first-round pick Deonte Banks moving into a No. 2 role. Hunter’s arrival could push Banks even further down the depth chart.

On offense, the Giants have a legit No. 1 receiver in Malik Nabers, but they lack a true second threat. While Darius Slayton is reliable, Hunter would add another dynamic option.

No matter what the Giants do at quarterback—whether they stick with Russell Wilson or look for a long-term option—adding a player of Hunter’s caliber could be a huge boost.

Now, the big question: Will he still be on the board when the Giants are on the clock?
