Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is receiving love and congratulations from fans, teammates, and even the franchise itself — all for a very personal reason.
As training camp nears and the Lions gear up for what could be another high-stakes season, not everything happening around the team is strictly about football. Behind the helmets and highlight reels are real people with real lives — and for Jared Goff, life just changed in a major way.
Goff and his wife, Christen Harper-Goff, recently welcomed their first child into the world — a baby girl named Romy Isabelle Goff. The couple made the announcement on Tuesday, July 15, with a heartwarming Instagram post that featured sweet images of the newborn and her proud parents. The caption was simple yet touching: “Romy Isabelle Goff” followed by a pink heart emoji.
Almost immediately, messages of love and support began flooding in.
The Detroit Lions’ official social media account didn’t waste any time, posting: “Congratulations!!” with three pink hearts. Their celebration of the moment reflected the genuine affection the organization has for its star quarterback — not just as a player, but as a person.
Goff and his wife also received warm wishes from many of Harper-Goff’s well-known friends. Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Katie Austin shared her excitement with a joyful comment: “She’s here!!!!! I love her so much.” Comedian and podcast host Shannon Ford Middleton chimed in, writing: “She is so so so so perfect. I’m thrilled for you guys,” alongside several heart emojis. Model Mara Teigen added a heartfelt “Congratulations mama! Welcome to the best part of life.”
The Lions also took the celebration to X (formerly Twitter), posting a photo of the Goffs with their baby — a moment that resonated beyond the fanbase.
One fan responded: “Dad energy this year will be epic Goff.” Another, even a rival supporter, wrote: “Even as a Packers fan, it’s hard not to like and root for Jared Goff to be successful. Just seems like a good person. Congrats Goff.”
Clearly, the news has struck a chord with fans from all sides.
As Goff navigates the early days of fatherhood, he’s also earning recognition for his role on the field. In CBS Sports’ 2025 quarterback rankings, analyst Cody Benjamin noted, “Creating something out of nothing isn’t his strong suit, and his turnover spree to close 2024 evoked memories of his skittish finish with the Rams, but Goff has also proven to be an increasingly efficient point guard for the Detroit Lions’ all-star weaponry.”
Benjamin added, “No position gets more credit for a team’s success, and no position gets more heat for a team’s failure… No matter what, people are always talking.”
He placed Goff in the “borderline stars” tier — alongside Matthew Stafford — recognizing the quarterback’s quiet consistency and leadership.
Off the field, however, Goff’s biggest win may have already happened — in the form of his new daughter and growing family.
