New Detroit Lions offensive coordinator John Morton has outlined his approach to play calling and working with quarterback Jared Goff.
Morton emphasized the importance of being adaptable and adjusting the game plan based on the opponent and the flow of the game.
“I think you have to be flexible,” Morton said. “You have to be able to adjust. You can’t just go in and say, ‘This is our game plan, and we’re going to stick to it no matter what.'”
Morton also discussed his approach to working with Goff, highlighting the need for clear communication and trust.
“I think the biggest thing is communication,” Morton said. “Being able to communicate with Jared, being able to trust him, and him being able to trust me.”
Morton acknowledged that building trust takes time, but he’s eager to start working with Goff.
“I’m excited to get to know him better, to get to know his strengths and weaknesses,” Morton said. “And I’m excited to see how we can grow together.”
