Going from Irrelevant to Relevant: Grant Stuard Joins Lions

The Detroit Lions have signed former Mr. Irrelevant Grant Stuard, a linebacker and special teams standout, to a contract for the 2025 season.

Stuard, who was the final pick in the 2021 NFL draft, has appeared in 66 NFL games with five starts over his four-year career, including stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts.

Stuard’s signing is expected to bolster the Lions’ special teams unit, where he has logged significant snaps and recorded 40 tackles with two for loss.

His experience and skills on special teams will likely make him an asset for the Lions. Stuard has also shown his ability to contribute on defense, starting five games and recording a career-high 19 tackles in one game.
