Hendon Hooker Among 3 Lions Players Who Could Be on the Move This Offseason

Lions Players Who Could Be Traded This Offseason
The Detroit Lions are facing an interesting offseason after falling short in the playoffs once again. With a Super Bowl window still open but narrowing, General Manager Brad Holmes could make a trade if the right opportunity arises—though it would mark a shift from his usual draft-and-develop strategy. These three players are the most likely candidates for a trade this offseason:

QB Hendon Hooker
After being selected in the third round of the 2023 draft, Hendon Hooker has seen limited action, mostly during blowout games. With Jared Goff secured through 2028, Hooker’s role as the backup remains uncertain. His age (27) and experience coming off an ACL tear make him a valuable trade asset, especially for teams looking for a quarterback prospect. The Lions may trade him to give him a better chance at playing time elsewhere.

DE Josh Paschal
Taken in the second round of the 2022 draft, Josh Paschal has shown flashes of potential, but his production has been underwhelming. With just five sacks in three years and struggling with his pass rush win rate, Paschal’s future in Detroit is unclear. Despite not being plagued by injuries in 2024, his inconsistency could prompt the Lions to trade him, possibly to a team like the New York Jets, where he could reunite with former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

WR Kalif Raymond
Kalif Raymond has been one of the NFL’s top punt returners, but his role in the offense has diminished over the past couple of seasons. With just 17 catches for 215 yards in 2024 and a $6.4 million cap hit for the final year of his contract, Raymond could be moved. While he’s a strong locker room presence, his contract could be too much for a team looking to stay within budget, especially if the Lions are working on a bigger trade deal.

With the Lions’ draft capital and clear needs on defense, these players could be part of a trade that reshapes the roster as Detroit looks to improve in 2025.
