Aidan Hutchinson Is About to Get Paid—Big Time!
Aidan Hutchinson is about to secure the bag. We all know it, and NFL insider Albert Breer knows it too. Ever since midway through his rookie season, it’s been pretty clear that Hutchinson is on track to land one of the biggest non-quarterback contracts in NFL history.
Right now, the title of highest-paid non-QB belongs to Myles Garrett (Cleveland) and Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati). But that’s about to change—Hutchinson is next in line. The big question is: what kind of deal will he get?
The Numbers Are Staggering
Breer recently took a crack at predicting the contract details, and, as expected, the numbers are massive.
“I think the new-money average per year on the new contract probably has to start with a ‘4’ now,” Breer said. Since Hutchinson already has $25.45 million due over the next two years, a four-year, $160 million extension would push his total earnings to $185.45 million over six years—averaging out to around $30.9 million per year.
Getting $40 million a year—even if it’s technically adjusted in the long-term contract math—is wild. And honestly? He deserves it. It’s just crazy to think about.
I’d break down how this impacts the Lions’ salary cap, but that’s a headache for another day. For now, let’s just sit back, soak in the fact that Hutchinson is about to be very rich, and maybe reconsider our career choices.
