Nick Saban, the legendary former Alabama coach, just got a huge honor while on ESPN’s College GameDay. While covering the Texas Longhorns vs. Ohio State Buckeyes game, Pat McAfee surprised Saban with an honorary football and announced that he’d been inducted into the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame. The news was shared by Alabama’s social media, with the caption “A Legacy of Excellence.”
Saban, who started his coaching career in 1973 at Kent State, credited his success to the great people he worked with over the years, including players, coaches, and support staff. “I was happy to drive the bus, but we had some great people on it,” he said.
From 2007 to 2023, Saban led Alabama to six national titles and nine SEC championships. Before that, he had a successful stint at LSU, winning a national championship and two SEC titles. After retiring from coaching, Saban joined the College GameDay team alongside Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Lee Corso.
