Hutchinson Shares Promising Injury Update Ahead of 2025 Season

Exactly six months after suffering a gruesome leg injury that ended his 2024 season, Aidan Hutchinson is just about ready to roll again.

The Detroit Lions star defensive end fractured both his fibula and tibia in his left leg during a Week 6 game against the Cowboys. It was a brutal blow in a season where the Lions were chasing history, and although his absence didn’t stop Detroit from reaching the playoffs, it left fans wondering what could’ve been if Hutch had been healthy down the stretch.

Now, with the Lions’ offseason program kicking off on April 22, there’s real reason for optimism. Earlier this month, Hutchinson posted a clip of himself running at the team’s indoor facility—and unlike a similar video from February, this time he looked fast, fluid, and unrestricted.

He also took a break from rehab to attend The Masters, where he spoke with ESPN’s Marty Smith about his road back.

“I’m there. I’d say I’m good,” Hutchinson told Smith. “I’ve got my last evaluation tests when I get back… once I knock them out of the park, I’ll be on my way and done with rehab.”

With final tests either already complete or right around the corner, Hutchinson appears to be right on schedule—just in time for what could be the most anticipated Lions season in decades.

Let the countdown begin.
