While the spotlight has long shone on his older brother, a high-profile Alabama football recruit, Jamari Brooks is proving he doesn’t need a last name to earn attention—just grit, talent, and relentless drive.
The younger brother of Alabama commit Malik Brooks, Jamari is a rising senior at Westview High School in Georgia, and he’s quickly becoming a name to watch in the world of college football recruiting. While Malik’s path to the Crimson Tide was filled with early offers and media buzz, Jamari’s journey has been quieter, more methodical, but no less impactful.
“I’ve always been proud of Malik. He’s worked hard, and he deserves everything he’s earned,” Jamari said. “But I’ve got my own story to tell.”
That story includes leading his team in receiving yards last season, dominating 7-on-7 circuits this spring, and recently picking up his first Power Five offer from Georgia Tech. More schools are beginning to take notice as his highlight reels gain traction among scouts. His sharp route-running, quick acceleration, and high football IQ set him apart—traits developed not just through training, but by watching and competing with his older brother since they were kids.
“People always ask, ‘Are you as good as Malik?’” Jamari said with a smile. “I tell them, I don’t want to be Malik. I want to be better.”
Coaches at Westview echo that sentiment. Head coach Terrance Wiley describes Jamari as one of the most focused and humble athletes he’s coached. “He doesn’t crave the attention, but he earns it every day in practice. He’s building something special.”
What’s particularly remarkable is Jamari’s approach to recruiting. While his brother enjoyed the spotlight that comes with early SEC attention, Jamari has chosen to let his game speak. He’s camped at schools quietly, visited weight rooms and film rooms, and taken mental notes more than selfies. It’s a mindset that’s resonating with recruiters who value maturity and long-term development.
“I’ve seen what the process looks like through my brother. It taught me to be patient, to stay locked in. My time will come,” he said.
And it is coming—faster than many expected.
With the 2025 season around the corner, Jamari is poised for a breakout senior year. Scouts are calling him one of the top under-the-radar prospects in the Southeast, and his list of offers is expected to grow rapidly. He’s set to attend camps at Auburn, Tennessee, and South Carolina later this month.
For Jamari Brooks, this isn’t just about matching his brother’s success. It’s about earning his own name, carving out his own legacy, and proving that greatness can run in the family—but doesn’t have to follow the same path.
“Malik’s got Alabama,” Jamari said. “I’ve got something different in mind. But one thing’s for sure—we’re both going to make the Brooks name mean something in college football.”
