Injury Tried to End Him — But This Ex-Bills RB Ain’t Done Repping 716

🚨 From Jet Skis to Job Hunts: Ex-Bills RB Nyheim Hines Wants Back In the NFL

Remember when the Bills were desperate for some juice out of the backfield back in 2022? The offense was leaning so hard on Josh Allen it looked like a one-man show. So, Buffalo shipped off Zack Moss and a future 6th-round pick to the Colts to bring in Nyheim Hines — a speedy, do-it-all guy who could contribute on offense and special teams.

Now, Hines didn’t exactly light it up… except for one absolutely wild game.

In Week 18 vs. the Patriots, dude took two kickoffs to the house. Yep, two. That game finished 35–23, but without Hines’ magic, who knows how that would’ve gone? He basically carried the special teams on his back that day.

But just when things were starting to look promising, disaster hit. Fast forward to summer 2023 — Hines tears his ACL in a freakin’ jet ski accident. Just like that, season over before it even started. Bills put him on the reserve/non-football injury list, and by 2024, he was off the roster entirely.

Now? Hines is on the comeback trail.

Per Adam Schefter, Hines says his knee is finally good to go and he’s ready to suit up again. He recently worked out for the Texans and apparently looked solid — but they decided to sign Nick Chubb instead to pair with Joe Mixon (yep, that’s a wild duo).

Meanwhile, Buffalo has moved on. James Cook has taken over the backfield, rookie Ray Davis is turning heads, and Ty Johnson brings the heat as a depth guy.

Still, seeing Hines make it back after everything he’s been through would be a heck of a story — from returning kicks in Buffalo to getting sidelined by a jet ski, and now eyeing a second shot at the league.
