“Iran Warns of Consequences as Trump Seeks ‘Trust’ with Tehran”

Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, says the president is working to prevent a war with Iran by trying to build trust with Tehran.

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Witkoff explained that Trump’s recent letter to the Iranian government wasn’t meant as a threat but rather as an attempt to open dialogue. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed receiving the letter, which was delivered by a UAE diplomat on March 13.

According to Witkoff, Trump believes there’s a chance to mend relations and bring Iran back into the global fold. “He wants to build trust with them,” he said.

However, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had a stark warning for the U.S. during his March 21 speech, saying that any “evil act” against Iran would bring “dreadful consequences” and that adversaries would face a harsh response if they acted on their threats.

Meanwhile, on March 17, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the government is reviewing Trump’s letter and will respond through official channels. He dismissed media speculation about its contents, saying it aligns with Trump’s public statements.
