Amon-Ra St. Brown is a beast—no question. But heading into 2025 fantasy drafts, he’s coming off the board as the WR5 with an ADP of 9.3 overall. That’s premium territory. And while no one is saying don’t draft him, it’s worth asking: is he really worth that price tag with everything going on in Detroit?
Last season, St. Brown finished 11th in expected fantasy points per game—solid, but a step back from his top-6 finish in 2023. Meanwhile, buzz is growing around Jameson Williams having a breakout season. Add in Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, Sam LaPorta, and you’ve got a crowded offense. Can there be enough touches to go around?
Let’s not forget: St. Brown set a career-high with 12 touchdowns last year, but before that, he averaged just seven per season. Touchdowns are one of the most volatile stats in fantasy, so banking on another dozen might be risky.
The departure of OC Ben Johnson, the mastermind behind Detroit’s explosive offense, adds even more uncertainty. New play-caller John Morton has ties to Johnson’s system, but it’s still a transition. And if the Lions start dialing up more deep shots for Williams, St. Brown’s target share could take a hit.
There’s also concern up front—Kevin Zeitler is gone, and now Frank Ragnow retired, which could affect protection and offensive efficiency.
Bottom line: St. Brown is still a top-tier talent. But with the offensive shifts and so many mouths to feed in Detroit, fantasy managers might be better off waiting a bit longer—or even targeting Jared Goff later in the draft to get exposure to the whole offense.
