“It Definitely Sits With You” – Love Reflects on Division Struggles, Sets Sights on Lions Rematch

A Lingering Sting From 2024

For Jordan Love, the memory of last season’s NFC North campaign is far from forgettable. Swept by the Detroit Lions and stumbling to a 1-5 record in the division, the Green Bay Packers quarterback knows the numbers don’t lie. The frustration of missed opportunities has been riding shotgun all offseason.

As Love admitted to reporters: “It definitely sits with you. I think, not even just going against the Lions, but just our performance against every team in the NFC North, it wasn’t good enough, wasn’t up to our standard.”

Lions Loom Large in 2025 Kickoff

There’s no easing into this season — Week 1 delivers a Lambeau Field showdown with Detroit, the very team that handed Green Bay two painful defeats last year. For Love, this isn’t just a regular opener. It’s a chance to reset the narrative, to show that the Packers are more than a playoff team that struggles in its own neighborhood.

Chasing Division Glory

The Packers haven’t raised the NFC North crown since Love took over in 2023, and his 5-7 record against division opponents underscores the uphill climb. Despite playoff berths in both of his first two seasons as starter, there’s no ignoring the fact: division games are the Packers’ Achilles heel.

But Love’s not running from the challenge — he’s embracing it. “It’s always a point that we focus on is trying to go out there and win the NFC North. It starts with that,” he said. “We definitely got a good test coming here Week 1… it just comes down to going out there, executing, playing our best game.”

The Road Ahead

With the Lions visiting Lambeau in the season opener, all eyes will be on how Love responds. Will the sting of 2024 serve as the fuel for a redemption tour in 2025? One thing’s for sure — the fire is already lit.
