J.T. Ginn helped the Athletics pick up their second home win in West Sacramento, leading them to a 3-1 victory over the Mets on Saturday. The 25-year-old pitcher, who started in place of Joey Estes, gave up just one run over five-plus innings. Ginn, a former Mets prospect, allowed four hits, including a solo home run from Brandon Nimmo, while striking out six and walking two.

The A’s went up 2-0 in the fourth, with Tyler Soderstrom driving in Jacob Wilson, who had doubled to start the inning. JJ Bleday added another run with a groundout, sending Soderstrom home. After Nimmo’s homer made it 2-1 in the sixth, Jhonny Pereda secured an insurance run with an RBI double in the seventh. Mason Miller closed out the game for his fourth save.

Mets pitcher David Peterson gave up two runs in six innings, and center fielder Jose Siri left the game in the second inning with a bruised shin after fouling a ball off his leg. He’s listed as day-to-day.

A’s reliever Tyler Ferguson made a big play in the eighth, retiring the heart of the Mets’ lineup – Pete Alonso, Nimmo, and Starling Marte – in order after walking Juan Soto to start the inning.

Wilson extended his hitting streak to 15 games, the longest in Athletics history to start a season since Stan Javier’s 17-game streak in 1994.

The series wraps up Sunday with Luis Severino (0-2, 4.74 ERA) on the mound for the Athletics against his former team, and Kodai Senga (1-1, 1.80 ERA) pitching for the Mets.
