Jaguars Reportedly Interested in Lions Free Agent CB Carlton Davis
The Detroit Lions may have a decision to make regarding free agent cornerback Carlton Davis, but they might not be the only team interested. As free agency approaches, the Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly looking into what it would take to land the veteran defensive back.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Jaguars “will gauge the market” for Davis, a move that aligns with their goal of building a tougher, more physical defense. New Jacksonville offensive coordinator Liam Coen emphasized at the NFL Combine that his team wants to develop a stronger, more aggressive playing style, and adding a seasoned corner like Davis could help achieve that.
Davis, who turns 28 this year, remains a valuable piece in the secondary. While he was acquired by Detroit late last season, his experience and physicality could make him an appealing target for teams looking to bolster their defensive backfield.
Meanwhile, veteran offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler is another free agent to watch. The Chicago Bears have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for the 34-year-old lineman. Zeitler has expressed interest in joining the Bears before, and with Chicago looking to reinforce its offensive line, a short-term deal could be in play.
With free agency just over a week away, the market for both Davis and Zeitler is starting to take shape. Detroit will have to decide how aggressive they want to be in retaining these veterans or whether they’ll let them walk as part of their offseason roster moves.
