The Detroit Lions have been on a hot streak lately—back-to-back NFC North champs and double-digit win seasons. Things are clicking, and part of that success is thanks to breakout stars like running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
Well, Gibbs just made a move that’s got fans talking—he’s ditching his jersey number 26 and switching to number 0 for the 2025 season.
The team announced that 14 players will be changing numbers, and Gibbs is one of the big names in the mix. It’s a bold choice, but honestly, it fits. Gibbs, who was drafted 12th overall in 2023, has been electric on the field. Head coach Dan Campbell even nicknamed him “Sonic” because of his crazy speed, pairing him with David Montgomery, a.k.a. “Knuckles,” in the Lions’ dynamic backfield.
In just two seasons, Gibbs has racked up over 3,100 total yards and 31 touchdowns. Last season alone, he put up over 1,900 scrimmage yards and found the end zone 20 times. Not too shabby, huh?
Now with a new number and another season ahead, Gibbs looks ready to level up again. Zero doubt about that.
