Jahmyr Gibbs Looks Ready to Take Over the NFL in 2025

If you thought Jahmyr Gibbs was electric last season, buckle up — the Detroit Lions’ star running back might just be getting started.

Running backs coach Tashard Choice didn’t hold back when talking about Gibbs’ ceiling heading into the 2025 season. “For him, the sky is the limit,” he said. “I’m going to push him like no other.”

And with good reason.

Gibbs is coming off a breakout campaign in 2024, where he led the entire NFL with 20 total touchdowns and racked up 1,929 scrimmage yards — trailing only Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry. He also posted an eye-popping 5.65 yards per carry, ranking third in the league.

The former Alabama standout has formed a dynamic one-two punch with David Montgomery, but with Montgomery missing time last year, Gibbs stepped into the spotlight — and thrived. He scored in 13 different games, ripped off a 70-yard touchdown run against the Titans, and earned his first Pro Bowl nod.

Now wearing No. 0, Gibbs is locked in and looking to build on his record-setting season. If he stays healthy, don’t be surprised if he’s in the Offensive Player of the Year conversation come January.

The Lions knew they had something special when they took him in the first round — now the whole league knows it too.
