Jameis Winston is on the move again! The former FSU star and Heisman-winning QB is heading to the New York Giants on a two-year deal worth $8 million (which could climb to $16M with incentives).
Rumors had been swirling about the Giants possibly going after Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, but in the end, they locked in Winston, who’s now entering his 11th NFL season. While he’s not expected to lead the Giants to the Super Bowl, he’ll likely serve as a bridge QB while the team eyes a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft.
But for now, his biggest job? Getting the ball to rookie WR Malik Nabers. The No. 6 overall pick from LSU is already hyped as a game-changer, and having a veteran like Winston throwing to him could set the stage for a huge season. Fantasy football fans are already buzzing about it, and one analyst even predicted Winston could help Nabers have a record-breaking fantasy season.
Winston’s Role with Big Blue
Last season with the Cleveland Browns, Winston put up 2,121 passing yards and 13 TDs in 12 games (seven as a starter). Now, he’s expected to lead the Giants’ offense for all 17 games in 2025—at least until the team brings in their future QB.
The Giants are rumored to be looking at Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders in the draft, as team owner John Mara is getting impatient with the QB situation. But for now, Winston’s experience could be a huge asset.
The chemistry between Winston and Nabers will be something to watch once training camp kicks off. With Nabers coming off a 109-catch, 1,204-yard season, expect Winston to lean on him heavily. If these two can get in sync, Giants fans could be in for a fun year at MetLife Stadium.
