Jameson Williams looks like a man on a mission.
The Lions wide receiver, now entering his third full NFL season, is looking stronger, faster, and hungrier than ever—and Detroit just gave fans a taste of that during OTAs. On Tuesday, the team dropped a highlight video showing Williams absolutely burning cornerback Ennis Rakestraw on a deep route, and let’s just say… the speed is very real.
The former Alabama standout has reportedly added five pounds of muscle this offseason, and it’s showing. At 6’1″, he’s still got that elite speed, but now he’s got a little more power to go with it. In the clip, Williams gets a clean release at the line, hits his stride, and by the time Jared Goff lets it fly, Rakestraw is already trailing. Williams hauls in the deep ball with ease—another reminder of what he can do when he’s fully healthy and locked in.
And don’t forget, he’s playing with a chip on his shoulder.
Last season’s early playoff loss to Washington still stings. But it was the NFC Championship collapse the year before against the 49ers that really lit a fire under him.
“That one hurt the most,” Williams admitted. “It was one game away. One play away. Now we’ve got a chip on our shoulder.”
With Amon-Ra St. Brown commanding so much attention, Williams has a huge opportunity to be the deep threat this offense needs. If what we’re seeing at OTAs is any clue, No. 9 is ready to break out—and maybe break some hearts along the way.
