Former Lions CB Jeff Okudah Signs One-Year Deal with Vikings
Jeff Okudah is staying in the NFC North—but not with the Detroit Lions. The former No. 3 overall pick has agreed to a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings, according to Kevin Conner, CEO of UniSports Management. Okudah reportedly had multiple offers but opted to join Brian Flores’ defense in Minnesota.
Drafted by the Lions in 2020, Okudah was once seen as the future of Detroit’s secondary. However, injuries and inconsistent play led to his trade to the Atlanta Falcons in 2023. After a short stint in Atlanta and another season with the Houston Texans, he’s now set for a fresh start in Minnesota.
The Vikings have long been linked to Okudah, with The Athletic’s Alec Lewis previously reporting their interest. His physical playing style and man-coverage skills could make him a strong fit in Flores’ defensive scheme. Now, Okudah will have two chances in 2025 to prove himself against his former team when the Vikings take on the Lions.
