Jerry Jones Drops Major Injury Update Ahead of Lions Showdown — Cowboys Fans Are Holding Their Breath

The Dallas Cowboys are riding a wave of momentum after shutting down the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day. Dallas edged out a 31-28 victory, pushing their record to 6-5-1 and keeping themselves firmly in the NFC playoff conversation. But there’s no room for the team to get comfortable. A short week awaits, and the Cowboys now shift their attention to a struggling Detroit Lions squad they’ll face next Thursday at Ford Field.

Despite Detroit’s 7-5 record, the Lions have hit a rough patch, giving the Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott plenty of confidence heading into the matchup. Prescott delivered one of his best outings of the season against Kansas City, putting up 320 passing yards, two touchdowns, one interception and finishing with a 100.4 passer rating, according to NFL research. Still, Dallas knows it will take more than Prescott’s arm to keep their win streak going—they need all hands on deck.

One major piece they’ve been missing is cornerback Trevon Diggs. Diggs has been sidelined since October 16 after suffering a concussion in an accident at his home, leaving fans wondering whether he’d return in time for the Lions game. Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones addressed the situation during his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan and offered some encouraging news.

“He’ll be on the field,” Jones said. “Could have been on the field, wanted to be on the field (on Thursday), but he’ll be on the field at Detroit, in my view.”

Jones added that unless something “unexpected” happens, Diggs should be ready to go, which is a huge boost for Dallas.

Along with Prescott’s big night, Cowboys playmakers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens also delivered strong performances. Lamb produced 112 yards and a touchdown, while Pickens added 88 yards, according to NFL research.
