It looks like the Cowboys are ready to make Micah Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. According to reports, the team has laid out a massive contract extension, and Parsons is on board with the framework.
But there’s a catch—Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, hasn’t been included in the negotiations, and Parsons isn’t signing anything without his involvement.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that he’s been talking directly with Parsons, explaining why he’s chosen to bypass the usual agent route.
“I’m the one writing the check, and Micah is the one agreeing to it. That’s the most direct way to handle this,” Jones told The Dallas Morning News’ David Moore.
Jones also mentioned that he and Parsons are on the same page regarding “most of the issues” in the contract, though no final deal is imminent. While it’s unclear when things will be finalized, the Cowboys seem to be on a clear path toward locking up their defensive superstar.
