Jets Complete Coaching Staff with Engstrand and Banjo Appointments
The New York Jets have rounded out their coaching staff with the addition of Tanner Engstrand as offensive coordinator and Chris Banjo as special teams coordinator. Engstrand, who worked with new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn for the past four years with the Detroit Lions, has a strong background in helping develop high-powered offenses, most recently leading a top-ranked passing attack for the Lions. Engstrand’s task in New York will be to revive an offense that struggled in 2024, potentially with the return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Banjo, a former NFL safety, replaces Brant Boyer as special teams coordinator. After retiring in 2022, Banjo joined the Denver Broncos as an assistant special teams coach, and now takes on a leadership role with the Jets. Both hires bring a wealth of experience and are seen as crucial to the Jets’ plans as they aim to contend in the upcoming season.
