Sauce Gardner Backs Garrett Wilson’s Future with the Jets Amid Uncertain Times

Sauce Gardner recently weighed in on Garrett Wilson’s future with the New York Jets, making his stance clear. After the team decided to part ways with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers following two disappointing seasons, attention has shifted to retaining two of their most promising young stars: Gardner and Wilson.

Both players are essential to the Jets’ long-term vision, as highlighted by Harrison Glaser on X.

“One thing is for sure: Garrett Wilson & Sauce Gardner should be in the #Jets long-term plans,” Glaser wrote.

His sentiment resonated with many, earning over 1,500 likes. But what made the statement even more compelling was Gardner’s response.

“I’m wit it,” Gardner replied, punctuating his message with a green heart emoji.

As one of the more vocal players on social media, particularly when the team struggles, Gardner made sure to show his support for keeping Wilson in New York. However, despite Gardner’s endorsement, Wilson’s future with the Jets remains up in the air.

Could Garrett Wilson Seek a Fresh Start?

Since being selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Wilson has dealt with inconsistent quarterback play, limiting his potential. His rookie season saw him catching passes from a carousel of quarterbacks, including Zach Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco, and Chris Streveler.

Then, in 2023, the arrival of Aaron Rodgers was expected to change everything. Unfortunately, those hopes were crushed just four plays into the season when Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. Once again, Wilson found himself navigating an offense led by a struggling Zach Wilson, along with Trevor Siemian and Tim Boyle.

Looking ahead to 2024, Wilson had every reason to believe things would improve with a fully healthy Rodgers. However, that vision never materialized, as Rodgers, despite his 20 years of experience, failed to regain his usual form.

With free agency looming in 2025, Wilson may decide he’s had enough of the instability. After three years of playing in an offense that hasn’t maximized his talents, the idea of moving on could be tempting.

Gardner may want to see his teammate stay, but ultimately, the decision rests with Wilson. With the uncertainty surrounding who will be throwing him the ball next season, the young wide receiver has a major decision to make about his future.
