Jimmy Kimmel had a field day with President Donald Trump’s latest so-called honor, which might not be as flattering as it seems.
On Friday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth showed up at the Oval Office to tell Trump that a new fighter jet was being named after him the F-47. Hegseth claimed the name “sends a very direct, clear message.”
Kimmel wasn’t buying it. “It does?” he asked. “You hear that, China? Our planes go up to 47 now. It’s ‘Spinal Tap: The Administration.’”
But the late-night host pointed out that the name might actually send a different message just not the one Trump was expecting. Some social media users quickly noted that “F-47” sounds like a coded insult.
Kimmel joked that it could even become the next “Let’s Go Brandon,” the right-wing phrase that became a stand-in for an insult toward President Biden. “F-47 sounds more like a vanity plate you’d get if you wanted everyone to know you don’t like Donald Trump,” he quipped.
