Josh Cribbs Wants a Shot at College Coaching
Former Cleveland Browns star Josh Cribbs is eyeing a new challenge—coaching. The ex-wide receiver and special teams ace is throwing his name in the ring to lead his alma mater, Kent State, as they struggle through a rough patch.
Cribbs posted an Instagram photo of himself as Kent State’s potential next head coach, as spotted by Brad Stainbrook on X.
The Golden Flashes just placed current head coach Kenni Burns on administrative leave after an investigation, and with the team sitting at a brutal 1-23 record under his leadership, his firing seems inevitable.
Cribbs, a college football standout in his playing days, may not have been a superstar in the NFL, but he made a name for himself as one of the best returners in the game. A fan favorite in Cleveland, he spent eight seasons with the Browns and has remained close to the sport, even hosting a Browns-focused podcast.
With Kent State in need of a turnaround, bringing in a program legend like Cribbs could be an interesting move. Whether he gets serious consideration remains to be seen, but it’s clear he’s ready to make the leap into coaching.
